At Black Oak Photography, I believe your session should feel relaxed, personal and completely yours. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here. Every family, every baby and every story is different and your session will be designed around what works best for you.

Let's make it easy

Booking your session is simple. The studio is appointment-only, so all you need to do is reach out and tell me a little about what you're looking for. There is no deposit required to secure your booking.

Once your session is booked, we can chat about what you have in mind and make any adjustments needed to suit your family. Whether that means accommodating a larger family, a little one who needs extra breaks, or simply changing things up to make everyone comfortable, I'm more than happy to tailor your session to you.

What should we wear?

Don't stress, I've got you.

I have a beautiful client wardrobe of maternity dresses available to use during your session, included in the cost of your booking. I also have a selection of newborn outfits and pieces available for your little one. Of course, you're more than welcome to bring your own outfits too. In fact, I love when clients bring something meaningful or special that they would like included in their photographs. Whether that's a sentimental outfit, a family heirloom, a favourite blanket or something that holds a special place in your story. Once you've booked, I'm always happy to help you plan your outfits, talk through colours and styling, and give you guidance so that everything comes together beautifully.

We follow your little one's lead

When it comes to photographing babies and children, I don't believe in forcing a moment. My approach is baby-led and child-led. Every baby is different, and every child has their own personality, mood and pace. Rather than expecting them to fit into a particular pose or schedule, I work with them and let the session naturally unfold.

If your baby needs a feed, we stop.

If your toddler needs a cuddle, we cuddle.

If someone needs a little break, we take one.

And if your little one decides they have their own ideas for the session, we'll probably get some of the best photographs from it. My role is to gently guide you while allowing the genuine connection and personality of your family to shine through.

Your session

When you arrive at the studio, there is no pressure to perform or know what to do. I'll guide you through the session, helping with positioning and gently directing where needed while also looking for those natural, beautiful moments in between. I want you to be able to relax and enjoy being with your family while I take care of the photographs.

Your sneak peek

After your session, I'll go through your images and personally select a handful of my favourites to create your sneak peek. You'll receive your sneak peek within 48 hours of your session, so you won't have to wait long to see a little glimpse of your photographs.

Your full gallery

Your complete gallery will be carefully hand-selected and individually edited, with your full gallery delivered within 2 weeks of your session. I take the time to make sure each photograph is edited consistently and thoughtfully, creating a gallery that tells the story of your session as a whole.

It's about freezing the things that won't stay the same forever.

The tiny fingers.

The sleepy cuddles.

The way your toddler looks at you.

The belly you've carried your baby in.

The chaos, the laughter and the little moments you don't realise you'll miss one day.
